My 1K Post! Help on Dating a Mantle Type 1 Photo
 

Can't believe that I reached 1,000 posts. Net54 is part of my day, everyday for the last 6 years...glad that I found it. Thanks to Leon and all of the other great members that I have met and done deals with over the years.

I just picked up at Brimfield this Mantle Type 1 with a Don Wingfield stamp. The attached photos aren't great, but it is a nice clean image of Mantle. The bat that he is holding in the photo is actually a Hank Bauer model. Can anyone give me an idea of what year it is?

Can tell by his face, but it's pre-1961, but you probably already knew that.

Congrats on a thousand posts. This place is sort of what you make of it.

I wish I could help on the Mantle photo but alas, not much. Going only by his apparent age I would guess mid to later '50s..I am probably wrong but it's as good as any guess so far..and hopefully someone will recognize something and know more.

ps...when I typed this there were no guesses.... :)

Thanks guys...I am pretty sure it is mid 50's. I was hoping that a die hard Yankees fan would recognize the uniform or maybe even the photo.
