Mickey Mantle Photos

5 Attachment(s)
Good Day All,

I recently acquired several Mickey Mantle photos. They were given to my girlfriend and I by her father, who was a serious collector of baseball memorabilia. Each photo is "signed" by Mickey Mantle and some have signatures of other high profile baseball players from the same era as Mickey Mantle.

I have thought about having the photos looked over by autograph authenticators to verify there authenticity. My question to you all is, if the signatures turn out to be authentic and I have a certificate to go with each photo what would be the approximate value for each photo?

Attached are photos of each "signed" photo.

Thanks for all your input.

Photos...

The fact that none of these photos has a COA or "Provenance" is of great concern. Who would sell or buy a Maris/Mantle photo without some form of proof that it was in fact signed by these legends? I can tell you who would sell them like that.......

"Provenance" does not allow "by her father, who was a serious collector of baseball " as unfortunately there are hundred and probably thousands of stories like this.

Do some research about the FBI Operation Bullpen (late 1990s - early 2000s) and you will be floored and unfortunately you will see how many forgeries exist out there.

I will not offer an opinion directly as that is not my realm (try PSA/DNA, Richard Simon, JSA, or SGC).

I'll just end it like this, the sheer absence of any type of COAs is not a good sign at all.

Peace, Mike

I can't really see the signature on the Gallo photo....

But the remainder look rather horrific to me. I'd say all are not authentic :(

None of them are authentic signatures. They are all forgeries. Sorry for the bad news. Do not invest any more money in them. Jason

I agree, all look pretty good.

Unfortunately, these are all terrible forgeries.
Having a COA does not mean that they are real. A COA is an opinion only. A COA is not proof the autos in question are real.
BTW, I have sold many Mantle photos without COAs for very strong prices.

COAs

Mark,

My reference to COAs was not intended to infer that they would be real if they had a COA. I was simply stating that items of that value without COAs is BAD. Very bad sign indeed for starters. Anyone who has been around the hobby long enough knows the extensive list of bad COAs and their ramifications.
I’m pretty sure everyone on here (except maybe the original poster) already knows exactly what you said but I guess for everyones’s interest it’s not a bad thing to point out from time to time.
When you are reputable and honest and if you have good items, no COA is needed I agree.

Peace, Mike

Thanks for all your comments,

Fortunately I have not spent a dime on any of these photos, as they were all given to my girlfriend and I. Based on yall's opinions it seems like it would not be worth getting them authenticated. I will say that they were given to us along with other items, including about 20 World Series Press Pins and each pin does have a COA to go with it.

Guess they'll look as good on my wall as anyone else's.

Thanks for the input.
