To Grade or Not to Grade
2 Attachment(s)
Recently I picked up some cards that are a little nicer than the condition I usually buy in and was wondering if they're worth getting graded. McCovey had me especially curious because the only thing I see wrong with the card is the centering.
Below a couple examples. Looking at examples on ebay, the NM-MT or better examples are really easy to pick out, but that Excellent to Near Mint range seems to vary some and kind of has me stumped. Thanks for the help! |
I would not personally grade either of those cards. There's a stain on the '54, and you're probably looking at a 5 or 6 on McCovey.

I also would not.....
I echo the previous post. The McCovey is actually centered low and has print dots all over it. PSA 5 or a 6 (they have gotten really tough). The 1954 is also a bit miscut very slightly. PSA 5 or 6 with ST or MC designator. Not worth grading either.

Makes sense. I've been seeing a few cards with similar centering and light surface creases getting grades as high as 5 or even 6, so that had me a little confused. I assumed the creases should have detracted from the grade more.
