lemon peel baseball real or not
 

this was sent to me is it real or not I'm kind of skeptical seeing the string through it like it's very hard.you would think a one-piece ball like this would be soft. plus the stitching looks so good and the color is off to me

I definitely don't think it's a lemon peel ball from the time period (pre 1880s). I'm sure it's a modern reproduction. Also, you said somebody sent it to you....was it a gift? Didn't the person who sent it to you give you any background?
