T206 Birthdates:

I have created a word document containing all known birthdates for the players represented in the T206 set. There are 21 Minor League players whose birthdates don't seem to be available from either of my sources, The T206 Collection by the Zappalas or BaseballReference.com.

I want to share it with the members, but the document is too big (6 pages) for me to attach to this post...at least, not with my limited skills.

I have enjoyed compiling the document and my thought was that, perhaps, we would each enjoy pursuing those players who share our own birthdates. For me, there were two, Joe Lake and Billy Purtell.

If anyone is so inclined, I can send you a copy via email. Or if you feel 'froggy' and ambitious enough to translate it into a universally assessable format and location, please do so.

I think this can be a lot of fun...just another way to go after The Monster!

findagrave.com is a useful resource especially if you know the date they died.

A few more:

I'm sure a little more digging and we should be able to get most of the others.

Well, all I would have to do is collect all the cards for some guy named Ty Cobb. That should be easy.

Right, my research is not of use to everyone...just an option for others.

But, thanks for your input and have a nice day :)

Hey Ray I added that category to my spreadsheet that I distributed to a few other board members. I couldn't find 11 players DOB and 14 players DOD. Good luck finding anything on Mr. Bastian ahaha.

One thing to note is a whole mess load of players from t206 went be different names than their birth and were spelled incorrectly as well. It's mostly the Southern Leaguers that I've had issues finding any information on.

Raymond, my comment was meant for fun. I am sorry if it came out otherwise when you read it. I think your work here is cool.

Ed- no problem - believe it or not, my goal with those comments was actually humor as well...just the more 'biting' sort....sorry

Found another birthdate- James Helm (on the card ) was actually James Ross Helms and I found his gravestone via billiongraves.com - pretty cool - He was the sole Columbus (GA) Foxes player in the T206 set. His grave is in DeFuniak Springs, FL:
