Set Complete: 1939-46 Salutation Exhibits

This was the last card I needed to complete the set.

Although no card is too scarce, the Klein, Gehrig, Hartnett and Mulcahy proved to be most elusive. Whenever one came up, I always seemed to be a step behind...however patience pays off.

You can see the complete set here:

Thanks to all of those that helped, including many on NET54.

Congrats Rob.........I know how hard you worked on it. We were parallel at one point and I'm still about 7-8 shy.

Congrats Rob, glad the Klein finally got to you, great looking set you have.

Thanks for your patience and glad the USPS got it right the second go round, had me worried.

Thanks guys!

Knowing it was you, Scott, I knew it would eventually get to me!

Isn't there a Rizzo in the set that's supposed to be pretty tough?

Best regards,

Larry

Robextend 04-13-2015 04:59 PM

Yes the Rizzo is very tough as well.

Congrats, Rob. Beautiful set.

Congrats Rob, I'm down to 4, and realizing it's a really tough set. Completing it is quite an accomplishment.

Great set!

Your're short a Holmes [An Exhibit Card]:

Also this Lombardi MADE IN USA variation:

Rizzo is the toughest card. Mulcahy is probably the 2nd toughest card in the set. I ended up needing Mulcahy as my last card, but got Rizzo on a fluke in a mixed lot of cards on eBay from a seller who did not know the set. Gehrig isn't so much hard to find as it is expensive when you do find it. Klein, Hartnett, Lombardi [waist up], all quite tough to locate. I also had a hard time getting fired up to collect some of nit-picky variations, the lower left/lower right legend location, or the MADE IN USA/Made In USA/Printed in USA, or the "An Exhibit Card" aspect. Since some of the cards were printed into the 1960s [like Williams No #9], you can pick up shade and legend variations throughout.

Between Scott and Adam I'm starting to feel like the guy that is about to win the race and suddenly the finish line starts moving away from me.
