1934 TOUR of JAPAN Items
Hey All,
It's been awhile. I recently picked up a couple very high end snaps of Ruth and Gehrig during the tour. During my years of collecting, I have not seen a lot of great images from the tour. I would love to see what others have. Also, I would love to see all items related to the tour to make it fun for everyone(not just photo guys. Below are the two snappers I picked up. Cheers! Those are both great pics! Nothing to add to the thread but looking forward to seeing more from this tour.

Great photos. I think the importance of this tour is underrated. I have a copy of the team composite which I think is pretty cool. Would like to see some Earl Averill images

Ben,
When I saw the price jump, I figured it might be you who won it. They are very nice. If you ever want to move Lou, keep me in mind. |

Ben,
I hear you. So are you going to get that flip corrected? That photo def isn't circa 1920. More like circa 1930. |

Back to the topic at hand.
This is my other type 1 photo of Babe during the tour. It is certainly one of the most recognizable images. I sure would like to see other original photos(tour) as I have not seen many at all in the marketplace. PS: Maybe that fella in the background is the "amateur" who took the snappers. ha! |

Ben, Congratulations, that Ruth snapshot is a beautiful piece of art. I am fairly certain I have posted this Type 1 photo before but it is all I have to contribute from the 1934 Tour of Japan.

They are beautiful. I've never seen these pictures before- and I've seen an awful lot from the tour. You might be interested in my book on the tour- Banzai Babe Ruth

Most photos from that tour were taken by Japanese photographers and only copies (photos of photos) were sent to American Newspapers so absent photos from players estates, images from the '34 tour are VERY rare if they are struck from the original negative.
Nice pickups Ben! Rhys |
Thanks for posting those Ben. Awesome photos.....and thanks to the others for sharing too. Ruth and Gehrig were quite the Legends.
