Help with identity on johnny evers 1911 mecca strip card

Hi!im new on here and just got back into collecting vintage cards after being out of the hobby for awhile. I recently come across a johnny evers card that on the front looks like the photo he has on his 1911 t201 mecca card but this card is small and is made of cardboard resembling a strip card of some sort. Can anyone help me identify what this is and if theres any value?

I don't see anything with a similar pose to his T201. Do you have a picture?

Mmcar 03-27-2015 06:23 PM

Im not sure how to post a picture but its on ebay with the id number 391083076093 and the back of the card is blank cardboard

If you ask a question of a card that you have no idea on…….how are we supposed to have a clue without a photo or maybe the Ebay item number would have helped.

Welcome to the boards.

Peace, Mike

PS hit edit, then go advanced, then hit the little paper clip drop down, then browse, then upload, then close that out and go back to paper clip & hit the drop down and click on the file and it will drop into your post.......ok so it is a little difficult to be honest! :) No harm intended above, just messin!

I added a photo from the Ebay auction:

Looks fake

nolemmings 03-27-2015 06:41 PM

Why do you thinks its small or looks like a strip card? I do notice the seller is wrong to advertise it as "THIS IS JUST ONE PART OF A THREE CARD FOLDER. IT IS THE MIDDLE ONE". That implies a t202 which of course this is not.

I agree it looks a little washed out and could be fake, although it might just be the scan also.

Bliggity 03-27-2015 06:46 PM

Right, it looks like a regular T201. How do you know the back is blank? There are no pictures of the back on the eBay page.

Mmcar 03-27-2015 07:07 PM

I know its blank cause i just received it today. It measures roughly 1 1/2 inches by 3 inches.the seller says beckett told him it was one of a 3 card panel which im guessing was so
E kind of a remake strip card. I dont know. The seller has no problem with returning the card but im curious wht it is

Thank you for adding the photo

nolemmings 03-27-2015 08:15 PM

Does it actually fold where the line is? Why have something fold down to show a blank back (if it really folds there)? I have no idea why Beckett thinks it would be part of a three-card panel, unless it was part of an advertising piece/poster that was trimmed. Seems bogus to me, and I know of no strip cards that fold, or know why they would fold like yours.

Mmcar 03-27-2015 08:46 PM

No it doesnt fold. The line that looks like it does is just a plain white line

Seller has a ton of Professional Grading Authority cards. Has anyone ever heard of that grading company before?

Leon 03-27-2015 09:06 PM

If it's blank-backed maybe it's simply a copy of one side of a semi-folded T201? or maybe an ad cut piece I've not seen before?

nolemmings 03-27-2015 09:09 PM

except it's the wrong size for a t201--way small he says.

T201 look alike

It looks like someone has a reduced copy of a legit T201 (due to the white line). The printing looks too detailed to be a reproduction, which have a haze or look like they have a slight egg wash over them.

I don't know of any type of card that this description would fall under and therefore suspect a modern reduced copy. Or a clipping from some advertising piece. What type of paper is it printed on?

It seems to be printed on some sort of cardboard stock pretty much just like the strip cards are

Mmcar 03-28-2015 03:02 AM

Plus after looking at it again it does look like it has been hand cut so maybe it is some kind of advertising piece. Definately not what i thought i was getting but it is different, just don't know if its worth keeping

swarmee 03-28-2015 05:36 AM

Not worth keeping; return it.

nolemmings 03-28-2015 09:57 AM

Seller appears to list and sell no PSA or SGC cards but instead has a whole slew of cards--virtually all he has for sale-- graded by "PGA". He also appears to sell only shiny stuff only a few years old with no other prewar cards and almost no baseball (one lot of 1965 Topps embossed inserts). Given that and considering no one here apparently has ever seen what you show I would consider the chances of it being legit (and even then it is admittedly only a piece of something else-- a so-called "middle panel") and worth keeping to be extremely small. But hey, it's your $35.

T201

I have to agree with Todd. I would get a refund if possible.
