Konetchy (Glove High)
4 Attachment(s)
HI all,
I'm looking for help gathering data on a particular Konetchy (glove high) variation. I have come across a handful of this pose that have a blue/grey spot on his cheek. So far I have seen six of these (all PD 150's) with the blue spot on his cheek and all of them have the same plate scratch on the back. As Steve B has stated in his plate scratch threads scans of the fronts are important in the sheet layout research. If all of the Konetchys with the blue/grey spot have the plate scratch then it's likely the back plate damage occurred before the printing of this sheet/layout but if we find any PD 150's with the spot but without the scratch on the back then we know the damage occurred some time during the printing of this sheet. So if anyone with a Konetchy (Glove High) would be kind enough to check theirs for this spot and report it here it would be much appreciated. Thank You Patrick |
I've seen the spot before, but not on any version I've owned. I used to have a Sovereign 150, but it was spot free.

I don't think that's a splotch. It's a tear drop tattoo. It means he killed someone...

I have a Sovereign 150, and no blue/grey tear tat either.

I want to thank Scott (mybuddyinc) for breaking up one of his lots to sell
me this Konetchy. This is the first non PD 150 I've found with this mark (all of them also have the same plate scratch on the back). I'm not sure why but the %'s are very low for the Sweet Caporals compared to the Piedmonts for cards like this but it must have something to do with the printing. It seems like only a small percent of the same plates were used for the SC's. |
Re: Konetchy (Glove High)
I have a P150 without splotch or scratch.

Blue spot, or not
I have a PIEDMONT 150 and a SOVEREIGN 150....neither of them have a blue spot.
Furthermore, I sold two Konetchy's at the National last summer....one was a PIEDMONT 150 and the other a SWEET CAP 350/30. Neither of these had a blue spot. TED Z . |
Pat,
I am never without wonderment with your "eye" for these things !!! How you can "spot" a "spot" is uncanny. :) Funny, when Pat asked me about this card, I thought its was for his "plate scratch" research. I replied that you don't want it, the upper mark is a smudge, and the lower a crease. Never saw the cheek spot !!! Interesting that there is a "connection" between Pied. and SC. What ?? I don't know. Fun stuff, Scott |
