ENDED Dizzy Dean circa 1938 Cubs Photo to Rip Collins ends 3/6/ 9 PM CST
Well, it is time to start selling some of the items from this massive collection I purchased, so I am going to start by letting go of a few items that I put on the message boards to to get some additional information on. Thanks again to all you chimed in with assistance.
This is on heavier postcard type photo stock. It has a blank bank. After doing some more research, I think I have solved the mystery of who else this might be on this photo. On the left if Obviously Dizzy Dean. With some help from some members here, it appears with the uniform the date of the photo is most likely 1938. After some more search, I believe the person on the right is Ira Blustein. He was a bullpen catcher for the Chicago Cubs from 1936 until 1938. The photo is signed as follows: To "Rip" Collins: A fellow who's plenty good. Ira Rip Collins that played for the Cubs as a catcher in 1940 There is also a James Anthony "Ripper" Collins that played for the cubs in 1937 and 1938. So my guess is that photo is signed to one of these two players. No clue on value, so we will start it at $5 with whole dollar increments. Bidding Ends on Friday March 6th at 9 PM CST. http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps0cc954db.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/t...psf403d7d7.jpg |
