Steve,
Thank you very much!! Jim |
I believe there is an AFL set of these that year as well. Not sure if you're looking for that too.

Thanks, the lot I picked up all say NFL All Stars. The odd three out after checking against the 1966 list that Steve sent are:
C33 SONNY RANDLE C38 GRADY ALDERMAN C56 ED MEADOR These are a different year, probably 1967 since they all say "Carmel colored" and I think 1966 was the first year Coke used this as part of their caps. |
My checklist says Grady Alderman is that # in the 1966 NFL All-stars set. Are you sure the above sheet isn't for the 1965 set?
The other two show up under the 1966 Coke National NFL set which is a different set. jeff |
The checklist Steve sent me shows says #38 is Timmy Brown and Grady is not on the list?
|
The image says 1965 NFL All-Stars. Maybe our two checklists aren't date synched properly as this image looks like the caps I have in the 1965 set.

Jeff,
You are absolutely correct. I had posted asking for a 1966 All Star Set checklist - the note said "Here you are" and I didn't check any further. I know need to go back and change my caps to 1965. So now I gather the Alderman is a 1966 Coke All Star and the Randle and Meador are from the 1966 Coke National All Star set? Thank you very much for helping me through this. Jim |

The sheet image I sent is directly from the 1966 Coke Cap Saver Sheet. The list matches the checklist on this website;

Steve,
Sorry I started a problem. The sheet image you sent did say 1965 on top which is why, I think, the confusion reigns. Your checklist matches a Football Guide checklist I just pulled up on the net so I will go with you. Do you know why the Saver sheet had a 1965 date vice 1966? This is for my own edification. I know Topps baseball (and others) had this problem for years until they standardized the industry. Thanks. Jim |

Well, that makes a lot of sense - something says I should have done some thinking before I started all this. Thanks.

Reviving this as I have picked up a few more and am now confused. I have re-read all the posts but still am confused. I presume some checklists are either wrong or I don't understand,sorry.
The NFL All Stars Saver sheet says 1965 and has, for example, C37 listed as Ryan. The two checklists I have say 1965 Coke Caps All-Stars NFL C37 as Sonny Jurgensen. I understand CowboysGuide "It's says "1965 NFL All Star Team affiliation shown on this sheet" because these are the All Stars from the previous season. The '66 All Stars were not on this sheet because the season had not been played yet. The '65 & '64 sheets have that notation for the previous season also." makes sense but then the two checklists I use are wrong, correct? They would also be wrong for all the NFL All Star teams? Thanks. |
