Looking for any information on this ad/game. Measures 3x5x3. Interested mostly in dating it. Showed it to a few people and got different answers on the date. hoping to narrow it down. |
mid 1930's. Hillerich and Bradsby also used it as an advertisement
|
Thank you Jim. Any idea on it's value?
|
Sold one maybe 10 years ago for around $40-45

Sold one maybe 10 years ago for around $40-45 but that was with the H&B ad

The Hillerich & Bradsby edition would be a new one on us, as is the Carroll Dunham Smith "Profenil" edition (thanks, guys, for
bringing both to our attention!), but It's a Hit!, made by Prevue-Radsell, was an advertising vehicle for many companies, and the prevailing opinion in the games hobby is that those are all 1950s vintage. All editions seen previously, promoting Beacon Television Sales, Calumet Iron & Supply, and Kendall Polly Power Gas, title the game Television Baseball on the short fold, or base, that also features the scoreboard, which makes a pre-1950s date of production highly unlikely. If the H&B and/or Profenil versions show otherwise, we'd appreciate a look at just what is shown on that section. The game was patented in 1940 and again in 1942 by Samuel Radzyner, so versions that don't carry the Television Baseball title could be 1940s vintage, but we think we can rule out the '30s. The various advertising editions of the game are not uncommon on eBay, with the Beacon Television Sales the most frequently seen, and we haven't seen any edition do better than $25. there in over ten years, even in minty condition. |
