Where did all of the Carolina Brights go?
As I continue my hopeless search for the KC Lundgren w/ CB back I am finding fewer and fewer CB backs in general. Eight years ago they were still tough to find, but nothing like today.
Are they less available now then they were 8 years ago, or am I just paying more attention and late to the game? |

I think generally speaking, the upper tier rare backs are being traded a little less these days, and held in permanent collections, as people find the front/back combos they need. They used to be all over eBay, now you can barely find backs tuffer than Hindu on eBay (there's an occasional CB or Lenox, but not like years ago). Keep your eye on auction houses, they seem to have them more than eBay.
Here's my CB... |
In the past CB's were somewhat underrated as compared to other backs of similar rarity...I never understood why as to me they are some of the most attractive backs out there.
Agree with mike in that thay are bought and hoarded/held these days. Considering people consider EPDG/OM backs tough...CB's are much tougher in most cases. |

The Lundy may be my true white whale. I agree that the design is attractive.

I didn't see a Carolina Brights in the BST auction, but there is a Red Murray in Goodwin's auction that opened up this morning.

I think they might be the most underrated back. Brian W has an awesome
collection of CB's that he has shown here before. This is my only CB. |

Agreed, CB's seem to be more scare these days.
Here's my only example, which I'm looking to trade for a similarly graded SGC Carolina Brights (player not important) if anyone is interested. The PSA holder just looks out of place in my SGC monster set! :D |

I think Brian W. still has scores of them.
I sold my Lundgren KC when LOTG had its grand opening. You're right about rarely seeing it come up for sale. I had only seen the one. all the best, barry |
This CB was the 1st one that I acquired (ages ago). It now belongs to Brian W.

I'm looking to buy a low grade CB if anyone is willing to sell

I remember when there was a short stretch when there were some good ones available, but it did not last long. They can be tough. I regret not going harder after the Eddie Collins that Goodwin had a while back but the competition became to fierce for what I had to spend at the time. Eddie Collins seems very tough.
I have owned at one time or another ... Christy Mathewson "dark cap" Johnny Evers "Chicago" Chief Bender "YES trees" Tris Speaker (no longer own) two Roger Bresnahan "with bat" (no longer own either one) John Titus Cy Barger (no longer own) I agree that there is something very special and attractive about the design of the back. One of my absolute favorites for sure. Derek |
My only CBs. All Iron Man fronts btw.<br><a href="http://s8.photobucket.com/user/zouraspm/media/ironb.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a47/zouraspm/ironb.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo ironb.jpg"/></a>

When I was doing the back run I always thought the CB's were one of the best looking designs. They look quite classy!! Thanks for sharing guys...

Here are mine. I've had them all for about 15-20 years.
