NEAT 1904 John McGraw The Science of Baseball Book

I Googled this and found nothing, also searched Legendary and a few other auction houses and could not find an exact one, closest was this:

1904 was the only year there was not a World Series, due to John McGraw and his hatred toward Ban Johnson and thus his refusal to play Boston in the World Series, stating his NY Giants were the true Champions of Baseball.

Oddly inside the book features a team photo of the Boston team.

Some great Matty photos amongst other Giants. Also includes a full 1904 schedule for all teams, the rules for baseball, some great ads, about 30-40 pages on baseballs, gloves, major league uniforms, etc. etc.

Very cool item from 1904 - good overall condition, no loose pages, front and back cover attached.

SOLD!!!

yes....I think becuz I price things reasonably. Or am I pricing them too low? I just like to make a couple bucks, pay for a few cheeseburgers and I'm happy.

FYI, in 1905 this book was published as The Official Baseball Guide by John McGraw. (The text describing the catcher's position exactly matches the text in the pages that you've scanned and posted above.)

The 1905 book is available online at: https://archive.org/stream/officialb...ge/n5/mode/2up

Of course, that's not the same as having an original book in your hands!

That's cool

Comparing it just now, it's close, but not the same. Well maybe the text is, but pix are different, seasons are different, and there is about a 20 page section showing baseballs, gloves, equipment, uniforms etc for sale which is pretty cool that I'm not seeing in the 1905 version.

but thanks for posting that, very cool!

Now is that Matty's arm or someone else's for all the pix of holding the ball?
