FS: Cleveland Indians media guides 1947, '48, '49
 

Collecting media guides isn't exactly a hotbed of the hobby, so I'm not optimistic that there will be overwhelming interest in these. But for the few collectors on the board who will recognize the scarcity of these three guides, I figured it's worth posting and offering them for sale.

The 1947 Cleveland Indians media guide truly is a rare item. In 30-plus years of collecting Indians memorabilia, I've owned one copy and seen one other for sale. This example comes from the collection of a longtime hobbyist who spent more than three decades in the hobby. It has been said that the Indians '47 guide is the first issued by a major-league baseball team (not counting the 4- or 6-page roster booklets that preceded it). I don't collect other teams, so I cannot verify that claim. I do know that's it's very, very tough.

The 1948 and '49 Cleveland guides, though not in the same neighborhood as the '47, still aren't common. The 1948 seems to be especially tough to find in nice condition, and this one looks even better than the scan indicates. Though it has some scratches on the cover, the colors are bright and the binding tight.

1947: $175 (When I was younger and stupider -- about 20 years ago -- I paid north of $300 for my copy of this guide and was thrilled to do so)

1948: $65

1949: $40
