Really special coach and, by all accounts an even better person. RIP. We need more people like him coaching and mentoring our kids IMO.

Sad day for Tar Heel nation. I can contest that he got the loudest cheers when they showed him on the scoreboard at home games.

Heard on the news his player graduation rate was 90%+, and no NCAA violations... amazing, and very heartening.

RIP Coach Smith.
