Thoughts? Large Golf Stein/Tankard
So first I buy a bowling trophy and now I buy this golf stein/tankard! I think I've been sucked in. Anyway, it appears to be silver plated and stands around 18" tall. Made by The Josten MFG Co. which is now known as Josten's. I have no clue on date, but want to say somewhere around 1930 based upon the golf figure that bears a resemblance to Bobby Jones.
Any input and thoughts are appreciated since it looks like I'm now a memorabilia collector! PICTURES: http://www.collectorfocus.com/collec.../miscellaneous |
I think that is pretty cool. Is it labelled anywhere other than the Jostens marking? I think your date is about right and it could be modeled after Jones as Jostens is a Mpls based company and Jones won the 1930 US Open as part of his grand slam here in Mpls. I thought it kind of looked a little like Gene Sarazen myself, but a lot of times they just use a generic looking player. Either way I think it's cool. Jason

I can't add much, but that's very nice.
