Why are certain HOF Rookies harder to find graded?
Is it just me or are some widely printed cards out there harder to find graded?
Specifically Im talkin about 1956 Topps Luis Aparicio, 1956 Topps Walter Alston, 51 Bowman Nellie Foxx, 55 Topps Tommy LaSorda rookie....etc etc. They are tons of ungraded ones on ebay but relatively few decently graded and decently priced options out there. These are not rare cards, nor are they expensive, yet why is it they are few and far between when graded at a 6, 7 or 8? Its buggin me. Maybe you kind folks have an answer. :) |
Lack of interest in "lower tier" hall of famers? Just a guess on my part.

I've never submitted nor know the costs, but perhaps it's a cost versus return issue. People may consider it less worth the submission cost on lower valued cards if you might end up getting a 5. A Koufax or Clemente RC in a 5 is worth good money, but perhaps a lower grade Aparicio might as well be raw for resale.
Just a thought from someone who's no expert on the graded cards. I have no idea what a Alson or Aparicio in 6 sells for, but have overheard people say that many mid grade 1950s cards sell for about the same ungraded as graded. |
There should be a PSA 6 Fox on eBay in the next few weeks.
