Bob Meyer room over at http://www.antiquesportscollector.com/ shows the 3rd trophy from that series
and a base has come up in auction in the past

I've never seen another and wasn't aware of it's existence  IMO that piece would shatter all records for a trophy not owned by a specific player. The artistry is beautiful and the size are amazing. I wonder if it is the only example.

I agree Mike...a complete trophy would bring big money.

I wonder where Bob Mayer got his trophy. I wouldnt think Spalding would have made many of these, bronze players alone are 18 inches tall. The cost to manufacture would have been substantial. The accompanying info beside each photo (sorry for poor quality...was the best i had) states these were perpetual trophys won by the Public School Athletic League. The metal tags along the base refer to the winner that year. Since the trophies went from team to team year after year was only one set produced??

Looks like the bases and plaques on the two examples are slightly different - so it must not be one-of-a-kind!

murphusa 02-02-2015 05:26 PM
