What Card Do You REALLY Want?

Title says it all! I would love to find a T49 Yale football card or a Capital Candy Jim Thorpe. Of course, even if I had a chance to buy, price might be a deterrent!

KrenBats 01-27-2015 07:47 PM

I would love to add a PSA 1 or 2 Chicle Nagurski.

jefferyepayne 01-27-2015 08:05 PM

Great question! Mine would probably be the Star Player Candy Red Grange or Paddy Driscoll.

jeff

P.S. I'd settle for the Capital Candy Jim Thorpe, I guess :)

1957 topps rookies. And too many others to list. Haven't gotten into anything older than '57 yet.

1955 Topps AA Four Horseman

Capital Candy Thorpe sounds great but just to keep it lively, I'd like a 1st year Kahn's Jim Brown too.

BTW, does anyone know of a CC Thorpe? I know of one specimen, owned by a board member who I won't 'out' w/o his permission. Other than that, nada. I have a CC of another athlete from the same cache that yielded the Thorpe. Missed the Thorpe by 20 minutes...

I am only aware of the one Thorpe owned by the board member. As with anything, another will turn up again some day!

I am pecking away at the 1948-52 Exhibit set and would like to find a reasonably-priced low to mid-grade Herman Wedemeyer.

Good picks! I love the variety and if anybody has pictures of the cards other collectors need, it would be great to add some images to this thread.

When I was growing up in PA in the 70's, this was my holy grail football card.

Didn't pick it up until a few years ago when the PSU scandal hit the value of it pretty hard.

Hmmmm; good question

Was John Heisman pictured on any period (1890-1935ish) cards? I guess that would be one I would love, either from his time as a player or coach.

I don't believe he's on a card. The best you're probably gonna do for him is either a cabinet or team photo. Here are a few.

Great thread! Off the top of my head..... Maybe a 1926 Shotwell Red Grange (any one is fine, famous smile is a good one), it's not even on my want list, but if one fell into my lap, then sure :)

If you want a PC back example of a card from the set, there are several on Sterling right now.

th38larg 01-30-2015 07:28 AM

Too many to list

I don't know if it's actually fair to just say one card. So here are my top three candidates:

N302 Anonymous Dunlop
National Chicle Nagurski
1924 Lafayette College Set (Berry or Ernst)

K-Nole 01-30-2015 08:57 AM

1962 Topps Mike Ditka
1962 Topps Ernie Davis
1956 Topps Checklist (unmarked)

John, if you're serious, I have a few Shotwell doubles ;-)

I'm looking for any 48-52 Exhibit FB cards that were issued in color besides the standard black and white and sepia (yellow, green, blue, red, pink).

You and me both. Except I have a green ink one. Still need the green stock.

Publius 01-31-2015 04:10 PM

Ditto on all three. I had no idea the CC Thorpe was that rare! Wow!

A 1926 Pottsville Postcard of Latone, would be cool.
A game stub or program from the football game where Grange blew his knee, is oddly on my,list
Uncut sheet of 35'chicle
I think uncut sheets of any vintage football would be cool, like 52 Bow, or 26 Shotwells. I have a 48 Leaf uncut sheet in three pieces that is one of my favorite items
