1938 Goudey "Heads Up" Ernie Lombardi

I'm sure this is old news, but I just realized that there are 4 versions of the Lombardi card:

1) Reds without line drawings
2) Reds with line drawings
3) Reds without line drawings (black baseball following Reds)
4) Red Sox without line drawings

My card below, is the version with the black baseball following Reds. I'm thinking that this was a make-shift correction of the Red Sox card (Lombardi never played for the Red Sox. They simply covered up the "ox" with the ball. Later, they must have printed a corrected version, with "Reds" only (no black baseball). I'd like to see scans of all 4 cards, if we have them. I imagine the "Red Sox" card is pretty scarce. Thank you.

Here is a good explanation of the Lombardi variations. Thanks to Leon! :)

I think you mean "thanks to Al"......And yes, Al (hi Al) does a great job on write ups.

Is this the rare version?

No. That's the later series version (with the line drawings around the edges). So, is the corrected "Reds" early series version (without the black baseball), more scarce than the "Red Sox" version? Just curious.
