opinions needed on 1981 Topps football unopened box.....
I have a 1981 unopened Football box that i have had since the early 80's, my dilemma is what to do with it? Sell it as is, or open the packs and pull rookies looking for that Mint card? (just eat the gum) ") I would love to hear what you guys think i should do?
thanks |

Hopefully someone understands this better than me and can jump in and help, but I believe BBCE certifies unopened material - going that route in theory would increase the value if sold at auction. 81 is Montana rookie, right? That one does real well in PSA 10, but like most cards from that era the prices fall off a cliff at the 8 and under level.

looked at ebay.. see boxes list buy it now from $1200-1600..and Joe montana graded gem from $400, $1000 +... there's also the Art Monk rookie.. but i can't think of any others .. hope that helps some.

I would suggest calling Baseball Card Exchange and seeing how much Steve Hart would charge you to authenticate and wrap the box. A BBCE wrapped box does carry a nice premium and they have have a great reputation among the unopened community.
Good luck with what ever course you decide to choose! Scott |
...........
Good info,,,thanks guys

Steve charges 5% of what he's selling it for as the fee to authenticate. If he doesn't have one for sale shoot him a note. Super nice guy.

A gem mint Montana (PSA 10) sells for $10,000+ not $1000.
