Finally finished my 1959 Topps set!
I purchased my last card for this yesterday. It was the Boston Team card in the grey back variation. My set includes all white and grey backs and the no option/trade variations. I've also included the NL Hitting kings version w/ the "A" printed between their shoulders.
Are there other variations in this set? I wanted to collect all the variations for this set. I will be slowly adding them to my SGC registry and uploading them to my collector focus page. I'm very happy to finish this set! What to start next?? |

Congratulation Curt. That set was the first Topps set I finished and therefore a sentimental favorite. There is a great thread on it on the PSA boards in the PSA forum there.
And yes there are other variations/variants in the set beyond those you mentioned, some formally recognized, others not. These are some I have: -there are the 3 Spahn DOB cards -the Ramos upper left front border irregularity -the Porterfield green line on back along the years -the Early Wynn with partial missing left back border...and another with a botched i in pitcher on front -Zimmer with botched o in Dodgers on front --House with botched T in Complete on back and another with partially missing back border along HR stats --Sauer with varying and sometimes significant yellow streaks in bottom front border --Drabowsky with irregular top front border --Sullivan with 3 different copyrights on back --McDaniel with with streak at logo --Brown with botched r in Brown on front --Singleton with botched h in Cubs on front, and also yellow in bottom like Sauer |
Beautiful. I completed this set in 1993, though not with all grey back variations. It is the very first vintage set I ever completed. It was a tremendous thrill. I do have a couple of wrong backs and I believe a blank back. I do have the no option variations too. This is a great set and a wonderful accomplishment. As for what to do next, I do highly recommend the 1956 Topps set, the greatest of all time!

How rare and valuable is the All Star Rookie card insert. Also is this from 1959 or 1960? I have this card but got it a long time ago. Thanks!

These are awesome guys! Thanks for sharing.
How did y'all come across these? |
Basically the Internet and card shows...

Since you all posted the variations I don't have, I've gone on an eBay binge and purchased a number of them. Thanks for the heads up!
Also, I think I've found another Ramos variation. As I was looking for the border irregularity, I found a couple with a complete yellow line along the top border. Picked one up. I'll try and post a pic later. |
