Rare backed T206's with the highest POP
 

Maybe the world is coming to an end...but here I am starting a T206 thread! I apologize to my caramel family in advance!

So for some reason I was thinking how many red hindu Russ Fords I have seen...atleast 3...maybe 4...and I'd say thats a pretty high pop for a back as tough as red hindu.

What are some other higher pop cards of some of the really tough t206 backs?

Most of the exclusive 12 (Duffy, McGraw, Ford etc) are much easier to find with RHs & AB460.

Of the true rare backs look at Fred Merkle with a Uzit back. Quite a few.

I remember seeing quite a few Marquard and Meyers Lenox, also Wheat Red Hindu when I was actively collecting T206.

I almost completed the sov 460 set....I am working on the ab no frame....and I kinda know which combos are rarer:)

to echo Ted....exclusive "12" pop up a lot more often.....we are not sure why yet:confused:

I know of at least three.

We had a thread a couple months ago in which we determined that there were 7 or 8 Cobb Red / Lenox.

I've seen quite a few Overall hands waist level Blank Lenox.

Here is the data from a study I did last April comparing the T206's that I refer to as the "Exclusive 12" vs the 31 subjects from the 350/460 series confirmed with red HINDU backs.

While I do not accept POP report data as absolute, I think it is fair to say that the POP data is representive of the relative availability of certain cards with respect to other cards.

The numbers of the Exclusive 12 subjects, when compared with the numbers of the 350/460 series subjects, overwhelmingly suggest that the Exclusive 12 cards were printed on
a separate sheet of their own. And, were Double or Triple printed with respect to the 350/460 subjects printed with red HINDU backs.

I have long given up trying to discern whether "joshing" me or you're serious ? ?


So, when I was searching for red HINDU's to complete my Exclusive 12 run of them....Crandall, Devore, Ford, Hummel, McGraw, and Wheat were surprisingly very available.

And, this shouldn't surprise anyone, since these guys represent New York teams. As you know, American Litho was based in downtown NYC.

But, actually all 12 of these dudes from the 460-only series are quite available relative to the 350/360 dudes......as my above numbers indicate.

ted...ed is mocking me! thanks for the info...I had no idea there were some red hindu's with a pop so high?

what about other rare back pops? any bl's/uzits/lennox's approaching such high #'s?

Another thing to keep in mind is that for T206 in general * HOF and popular players appear to be graded roughly twice as often as a similar common.

* The sample size is a bit too small for me to be comfortable extending this to the harder backs since harder backs should also be graded more often than easier backs. If you get deep into the pop reports even assuming they're only generally accurate there are some surprises. Like there being roughly equal numbers of Magie compared to Magee. And a small handful of cards that are tougher with common backs than "tough" backs.
