Help with Markings on a Ball?
1 Attachment(s)
I've had this ball for a long time, but have not been able to determine what the numbers mean. It's a game trophy ball from '36 between most likely two schools/colleges. The game went 12 innings with a score of 4-3.
Under the score are 12 hyphenated numbers, presumably corrresponding to the innings. Numbers range from 0 to 40, with some numbers repeated. I can't figure out what the numbers correspond to. It's not hits, runs, pitches thrown, minutes, or any stat I can think of. I'm thinking it's maybe something obvious, but I am just not seeing it. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help. Being that there are 12 numbers listed and 12 innings I would guess it might have something to do with that. It could be just a coincidence though. The number "40" is what throws me off though. Since some numbers are repeated it wouldn't be uniform numbers of one team.
Sorry I'm not much help. Maybe someone else can chime in with a clue. Drew Interesting note though, that's the day Buddy Holly was born |

You had the same thought process as me. I would think the numbers have something to do with the innings, but I can't think of any stat where you could have zero in one inning and 40 in another, in a 4 to 3 game. |
