t205 confusion

Here's a quick one for everyone;
Otis Crandall, which variation is scarcer? T crossed or T not crossed? T205resource lists crossed "T" as having nine backs and not crossed "T" as having only two backs. t205.org lists "t" crossed as being slightly higher in value. I was under the impression that generally speaking, the fewer backs that a card was available with the scarcer the card... Am I getting mixed up or what?!?

Hi Michael.
I'm pleased to see heightened activity/discussion on the T205 set lately!

T not crossed is listed as slightly higher weight for the SGC registry, but only 2.00 over the 1.00 assigned for T crossed.

I haven't seen any real premium for common back Crandall cards in either signature. If the T crossed is available in some of the rarer backs, then any premium is based on the back, not the front.

If I recall correctly, when I first started collecting T205, this version was only called out on a few publications...most didn't signify any difference, but none had an assigned premium. Other cards in the set have the same type of "recent" variation that might some day manifest itself into a premium for one version over the other...like Wilhelm , but maybe not (I.E- Miller)

Happy New Year!

T crossed is tougher but little to zero premium. Another back variation other than Miller in the recent few yrs is the Doc White No/partial quotes only found on the PB backs. Also a Collins mouth closed yellow elephant. Please use caution on that card though. If it comes up you better have deep pockets:).

Thanks guys, learning stuff about the set every day.

# of backs on any particular card does not always equate with rarity. T-crossed is slightly more difficult but can be readily found and demands very little premium.
