Blatant reproduction, you can easily tell by the space between the picture and the frame.

Reference M101-4 repro detection here on the NET54 site.

Dan...........

Great job at spotting these all the time...hope your doing great:)

Happy Holidays Dan-- hope Santa left you a Tip-Top or two under the tree.

As for this monstrosity, it actually has less of a space than most reprints, at least judging from the lousy scan. This thing does not even appear to be a fixed-up Fritsch reprint, which reprint was at least authorized. It is a hacked copy from some other source or just an outright fake that someone thought looked more legitimate with a hand-cut edge or two and a minute or so in a toaster.

I have trouble having much sympathy for anyone who would buy a 5-6 figure card without doing their own homework, but I suppose a fraud is a fraud is a fraud. If I had a dollar for every bogus Ruth offered on ebay I could probably afford to buy a real one. I see from the description that the seller is either fairly savvy as to vintage cards and/or else lifted his description from an informed site--- either way it shows he should know better.

I sent in a report as well - hopefully the buyer dosnt lose too much if ebay dosnt remove it. Hate to see things like this as I was on the other end of it 2x myself.

Excellent point. I would also add that the seller has a total of 37 feedbacks...so what level of confidence should you have with him? I appreciate that Net54 members are always reporting these items, but the buyers of these cards need to take responsibility as well.

Just my 2¢. Happy New Year to all.

Jeff

I agree with the prior posting, especially since the description does not guarantee authenticity. I wonder if the seller is bidding this item up to add legitimacy?

scooter729 12-31-2014 07:12 PM

Top 2 bidders are 100% blatant shills. The current underbidder has bid on 18 items in categories from cards to books to toys, and all just coincidentally are with the same seller. Yeah, that happens all the time.

yanksfan09 12-31-2014 07:39 PM

I reported. How many reports does it take for ebay to do something...

Some bidders are just not comfortable buying from strangers.
Who better to buy from than your unlawful brother-in-law?
:rolleyes::p

Easy solution. Someone bid $15K to get the high bid. Then with 12 hrs and 1 minute until completion, retract the bid. Seller is emotionally crushed and gets stuck with the Ebay fees.

EvilKing00 01-01-2015 12:01 PM

Think ebay finally pulled it

Buythatcard 01-01-2015 12:21 PM

It has been relisted.

Sean 01-01-2015 02:04 PM

Unless I'm missing something, it actually sold for $9,000.

EvilKing00 01-01-2015 03:00 PM

Crazy

NYHighlanderFan 01-02-2015 04:21 PM

Unbelievable!

Happy New Year, Dan and everyone else out there! Cheers!

Thing like this are why I quit ebay in 2003. The only items of mine that are sold on ebay anymore are things that are stolen from me at shows, mainly he Chicago shows. Of course the sellers aren't sending me the money. I need to hire another set of eyes for the big shows.
