I especially enjoy picking up pieces related to beer and alcohol :). I think this is a 1940s Jimmy Foxx premium, in awesome shape, that was a premium for Rheingold beer.

My only "beer" card

Not to derail this thread or anything, but we've all seen so many items which have Wagner's name written as "Hans." Does anyone know of contemporary accounts (perhaps actual audio) that establish precisely what the baseball world called him? "Honus" is the name we've all come to know and Johannes is his birth name, but with the amount of times that "Hans" has appeared, I wonder whether or not there was a consensus at the time he played. Maybe it differed regionally, because communication and media wasn't as widespread and nationalized as it is now?

While not a card, this is a neat display piece I have hanging in my bar area.
Its probably from the late 40's as Heilmann died in 1951. The next year he was inducted in the Hall Of Fame.
His baseball stats are very impressive as he hit .403 one year and another at .398.
All told he played 17 years and had a career ave of .342

Reminds me of the days when Ballantine was the primary New York Yankee sponsor. And announcer Mel Allen would call every Yankee home run a Ballantine Blast!

I'm another big fan of baseball/beer collectibles.

FWIW, about two years ago some brewery or other brought back the Duquesne brand. I see it on tap at my local when I'm wintering in PA. It's a nice light pilsner and sells for 50 cents a pint less than the other brands on tap.

Bob that's good to know, although I haven't see it yet.
Perhaps its just a western PA distribution as I'm in the middle of the state.
So I'll have to stick w/ Yuenglings

I bought this shadowbox ad piece in a Mastro auction when I first bought our "winter" place in PA.

It measures about 16-1/2" x 13-1/2" x 2-1/2" deep.

Jay, I don't get to many bars around here. I found the Duke on tap in Huntingdon. Yeungling is still my top choice.

Beer, Baseball--and the Babe!
 

Growing up my folks owned a hotel in WNY from 1946-1953. Here's an item I got from a beer distributor in 1952, a 16 pg booklet put out by Callahan & used by the Hornell Brewing Co as a promotional piece featuring none other than the Babe.

Here's the F & B cover and the first inside page. It is like-new and never been pressed open. I had 2 of them but sold one about 5 yrs ago.

Love that Callahan Old Granger Beer booklet!
 

Never seen the Callahan Old Granger Beer booklet before. Very cool item. Anyone collecting that set is sure to want such a neat companion piece. Thanks for sharing!
