Here are two Lou Gehrig photos. Which one should be more valuable?

The size of Gehrig with his successor is 6x8, the portrait is 5x7.

It should be the first photo. An historic time in Gehrig's career. That is the one I think ....should........be the most valuable.

But that portrait of Lou is a great photo also. This is a close call actually.

I'd prefer the portrait. It's a great image. Both are nice but that portrait is amazing.

I suspect the portrait would sell for more in an auction setting, despite the historic significance of the photo with him and Dahlgren together. Personally, I like the paired photo a bit better than the closely-cropped head shot, but maybe that's just me. Both are very nice photos though.

first one

the international news stamp along with the date and very elucidative
description of the event make for quite a significant photo. IMHO

all the best,

The second photo looks like the image used in Gehrig's 1932 U.S. Caramel card.

Portrait no doubt!
