Ryne Sandberg help
2 Attachment(s)
I am retired and drive new cars for 2 dealerships. Wife passed 8 months ago and house got lonely. Love the job! Now I was driving and needed to take a break long trip. Stopped at an antique store and found this (30") bat for $5.00 thought it was worth it. When I got home and took a better look I think it may be a real signature did I get lucky for a change. Thanks for the help. D.

Looks printed on from the factory.

Appears to be hand signed to me

Bottom bat in the 2nd photo from the Mears Auction lot has the same bat with what looks like an identical signature. Might be printed on.

The bat has been used and scuffed up but the signature doesn't show the wear. That is why I believe the signature is later. Does it look like Ryne Sandberg's signature? Thanks D.

I agree with Shelly, the signature on the bat would be a very early Sandberg.
|
You sure it is not printed on? If you look at the one in the link I provided, the signature looks identical as far as the distance from the Hines logo and the centering and placement of the auto on the bat.

looks like a bad early type Sandberg signature

I agree, I think it is a commercial autograph on the bat. Here is an early signature of his. 1984

Sandberg has one of the worst signatures from that era and was very inconsistent. I have one from him in person from '84/'85 and you really can't see much but the "R", "S" and maybe the "g" at the end.
 |
It is not a hand signed bat, it was created by the manufacturer with the "sig" already on it.
Here's another one. http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps43360831.jpg |
