New Ebay Security Rules and Number of Bids
So I was setting up some bids on Bidding Scheduler and got this message:
Maximum amount of bids setup for around this eBay ending time has been reached. eBay has setup new security measures that affect bidding on multiple items that end around the same time. As a result, you can only submit up to 4 bids within an 30 minute timeframe. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. Also note:You can still setup bids for items that end outside this timeframe. Does anybody know what this is about? This effects me as both a buyer and seller and can't imagine they would restrict bidding on more than 4 items in a 30 minute period. Thanks |
Does that eliminate shilling in the final 30 minutes? Is it four bids or four items. This bothers me quite a bit, and tab into it a few times. IMO it should be limited to 4 bids PER item. Call me crazy, but this would eliminate SOME shilling

Out of interest I just placed 5 bids on the same item (progressively higher on each one) and it let me do it...not sure what's going on with your Ebay.

What sniping service was this? I have never heard of such a thing, and framed in that manner, limiting bids to no more than 4 in 30 minutes makes absolutely no sense. Even if 4 different items. Many sellers (including myself) stagger out large groups of auction lots at 1 per minute (or even more rapidly), and to suggest bidders should only be allowed to bid at a rate of 1 item per 7-1/2 minutes is ludicrous.
Not saying ebay is above doing something ludicrous, but I simply don't believe this and think there was a mistake made somewhere or something was lost in the translation. |
