This card isn't identified but I believe it to Bob Ewing in spring training during his time spent with the Reds. I think it dates to about 1905...
By the way, does anyone here happen to have this card of Tom Downey? |
Former three time 20 game winner Frank Owen throwing the first pitch at Swayne Field on July 3, 1909:

Thanks for the info. It has to be somewhere between 1902-09 because that's when he played for the Reds.

Any idea what team this is? And the player on the left front; doesn't he seem like a pretty large fellow, almost gigantic compared to the others? Could be the lens playing tricks, just looks like an odd assortment of players to me...

Among the very first Max Stein issues, ca. 1904, Jack Beausholte. It is a real photo attached to a thick card stock backing.
http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...Beausholte.jpg RPPC from the Jeffries training camp. Shown from left Bob Armstrong, unknown, Joe Choynski, Farmer Burns, Jim Jeffries, Jim Corbett. Likely one of a kind; from the estate of Jeffries friend George Stewart. http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...ining%20PC.jpg |

Great cards, FourStrikes, one and all.
The 1933 Portland Beavers you posted inspired me to share these Beavers RPPCs from 1925-1933, missing 1927 (anyone have a spare 1927? ;) ) The autographed back is from the 1929 card. Check out the four guys with hats in the back row of the 1931 card. Hmmm.... |
