T213 help
Hey guys I've seen some t213 coupon tobacco cards up for sale recently and I tried looking for some info on these cards. The problem is that there isn't much out there about this set. Anyone out there help me out a little any help be nice. Just thinking of picking some up so like to have some knowledge about what I'm buying first.
Thanks Jesse |
Cool set but....
Jesse,
All I can say is "good luck" on these. To date PSA has graded: 85 of these cards TOTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's just a few more than the amount of exclamation points I used! By comparison, PSA has graded in excess of 170,000 T206s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey, I like my exclamation points! :) Very cool cards but very difficult to find so if you have found some....BRAVO! peace, mike |
Jesse,
For sale on eBay or somewhere else? Why I ask is because if they are on eBay and are either hard to find cards or cards in conditions that are better than usually found then you are going to have competition for them (not me at this point, unfortunately) and have to spend $$$ to get them. As far as the cards themselves go, you can go to the Old Cardboard website and find some info (link at the top of the page). However, from what I have read on this board, that site wont tell you which cards are harder to find. I know that one of the Types is easier to find than the other two and that people who have studied and collected the different Types have found that some cards seem to be harder to find than others. At least that is what I think I remember reading.... David |
There are well over 100 of them on eBay right now. Everything else seems rare if you compare it to T206, but T213s in general are very easy to find. There are actually 3 sets, T213-1, -2, and -3 issued with gaps of several years between them.
T213-1 is tough but still pretty affordable when they come up. There's no reason they shouldn't be considered T206s, but they aren't (by most people) and so sell for a fraction of a similarly rare card that's officially cataloged as a T206. T213-2 is common. T213-3 is intermediate in difficulty but closer to the T213-1 end of the scale. Unfortunately they're also ugly. To me they look like T206s that someone soaked in a cup of tea before the ink ever had a chance to dry. |
thanks guys. There are some on ebay I noticed and a guy on here had some available. Just trying to learn a little bit more bout them before I over spend or something on them.

T213's
There are several good threads on this site that you can search for. Also, Lew Lipsett's book has some good info, and the Standard Catalog has some basic info.
There seems to be several people who are going after the Type 2 set. A couple of years ago I could find low grade cards for twenty bucks. Now I feel good if I can pick one up for $35 to $45. Type 1's don't come up for sale very often, and most low grade commons will cost you $150 to $250. Type 3 also has an overprinted card that is very tough. |
Not tough as types though for specific players even with Type 2 you might have to wait a bit for one to surface.
|
So what's or how can you tell the difference between the series?? I'll also search around here for other t213 threads I had trouble finding that's why I'm asking now.

Top one is type 1, middle one is type 2, bottom one is type 3.

I ended up finding some stuff on old cardboard some of the photos but thanks for the quick response

I can answer any specific questions you have on the type 3 issue...you can email me at rgutheil@gmail.com.
Previous posters are all pretty accurate as to scarcity and such. Pricing is often hit or miss (esp. with types 1 and 3), as there just isn't enough sales data out there to justify much of anything. Rob |
Thanks I'm going to try and do some more research but will keep u in mind.

Thanks everyone for the help. Much more known Bout these cards. Now it's off to buy some of these haha.
