My T206 Ames and the Date Stamped Wagner

I was doing some T206 research online today imagine my shock when I found and online article featuring a card I own!
This article was apparently written a couple years ago and the author believes the Date Stamp Wagner and my Red Ames were originally owned by the same collector in 1909
http://www.t206museum.com/page/periodical_121.html

I'm sure my Ames is still "just an Ames" but to me it just went up in value a notch or two :) I have owned the card since 2010 and had no idea it had ever been featured online.

Anyone else have purple date stamped T206 cards from 1909?
It would be nice if the original owner's name or location could be figured out in the future. Also would like to know who the "purple star" collection originally belonged to.

Awhile back we had a conversation about purple stamps on the backs of e90-1 cards. As you'll see in the thread, it looks like the stamps may have been applied much later than 1909.

Ahh! Thanks Luke! I missed that thread.

Seen a few T206s with Nov 10 1910 stamped on the back.

There is a thread somewhere here about them also.

Some T51s

have purple stamps on the back with "GANO LARSSON" and what looks to be "PLAINFIELD, N J". May or may not be the same collector, but figured I'd toss it in. Check the backs in this lot to see three:
eBay auction with purple stamps

I didn't get this one, because I have already gotten most of the cards through other auctions.

There is currently a T206 Joe Tinker on ebay with the EXACT same stamp and same date as my Ames. October 5 1909
Someone had a decent collection 105 years ago :) No telling how many more are out there.

All three cards are portraits. All three are Sweet Cap backs which leads a bit more credence to them coming from the same person originally.

Nov 8, 1910

I don't have an Oct 1909 stamp, but my Mathewson portrait is stamped Nov 8 1910.

Your Matty is also a portrait and also a Sweet Cap back :)
Someone must have smoked Sweet Caps and only wanted portrait cards back in the early days.

Could this Phelan currently on Ebay be from the SAME original collection?
I may be seeing things but Im seeing a pattern. Sweet Cap, Portraits, Purple Dates.

A Nap Lajoie

Maybe this one too?

It's out of my price range, but if someone's trying to put these together and make a run at Honus, it's not out of his/hers.

I have a couple with the purple stamp. I believe they are McQuillan and Vic Willis portrait. Might have another one that is purple, but 1911.
