Unique Babe Ruth Premium
This Ruth may be a preproduction R309-1 Goudey 'proof' or a R340 Sport Kings Premium (never issued as planned, see wrapper image)
This uncatalogued premium was discovered about 7 years ago... it may look like a common R309-1 Ruth, but this one is far different in many ways... it has an extra wide green borders and a green name plaque exactly like the unique printer's proof sold in 2005 at REA for slightly over $4K (see image below). This card is printed on the normal thick card stock, but the easel on back is a different design compared to the R309-1. Top has a holepunch for hanging. Because of the green borders it is roughly 1/2" wider and taller than the R309-1. Quality and contrast of the image (like the proof) is far superior compared to the R309-1.

In my 30+ years of PreWar card collecting, have never seen another one like it. Very attractive and uniquely rare.
If it doesnt sell here I may list it with an auction house soon.

1933 Sport Kings wrappers lists 8 different premiums available by sending in 50 wrappers each, but these premiums are so rare it is doubtful they were actually issued as planned.
