Arthur Blank, Everyone knew this was coming!!!

News Flash!! The Falcons suck, again! Only 6 wins out of the last 24 games! A nice little 5 year run, but with only one playoff win, just one!. Falcons, you missed your window big time! This was with a team that had home field advantage 2 of those years thru the playoffs, only to get knocked out in the first round. Mike Smith has been an over achiever (remember, he coached Jacksonville!), now this team is right back where we were with Bobby Quitrino (Petrino) in 2007. This defense is about as bad as I have ever seen....Jay Cutler was extremely happy today! (rarity for him) . With the money Blank has, either shit or got off the pot. Get a quality GM and coach (Jon Gruden or Jim Harbaugh would be a great start) and go forward. This current team and organization is going nowhere, and in a hurry....

Kevin- It is not normally for me, in any way, to come to the defense of anyone in the NFL. However, it should be noted that the offense is LOADED with talented, high-paid skill-position players so much so that it takes away from any defensive upgrades. I would get rid of Roddy White first - they have low priced players who can already replace his present production. Next to go would be Stephen Jackson...too many miles on those legs. They spent a high-draft pick on an offensive lineman, who shows promise, but that needs to remain a priority. They do need to replace Tony Gonzalez, or at least, get a more productive TE- and one that can block. The defense is truly a mess. There is a lot to be done there and the next several drafts should concentrate on the defense. The Falcons have a history of letting better defensive players walk rather than pay them & that needs to stop. I had not realize that they had lost 18 or their last 24 games...ugh...but none of this will happen in a hurry. Yes, Arthur Blank has a lot of money, but so does EVERY NFL owner, and that's who he has to compete with...in addition to Salary Cap constraints. One possible action would be to have some of the higher-paid players rework their contracts to be back-loaded, which would free up more money now.

Being a Bear fan, I was more struck by how the Falcons were unable to consistently move the ball on offense. The Bear's defense was completely without their top four linebackers, they have crap safeties and a rookie at CB. All week long the fear was what Jones, White and Ryan would put up numbers wise.

And I wouldn't be too hard on the Atlanta defense because the Bears had one of the best offenses in the NFL last year.

Perhaps he's preparing to flush.

Things could always be worse--you could be a fan of the 37 time last place fillies (more last place finishes than any major league pro teams in any sport league).

CMIZ5290 10-19-2014 04:10 PM

Another quality Falcon game today.....This team is absolutely pathetic....

Runscott 10-24-2014 04:35 PM

It only gets worse - now the Falcons think London is in SPAIN. Hopefully they haven't bought their plane tickets yet

Holy Cow!!! By the way, if you are a betting person, take Detroit minus 3 like it is stealing.....

Runscott 10-24-2014 05:18 PM

I'm not a gambler, but anything under 7 does seem like easy money. Of course, when I bet there is no such thing.

Big reason #1: Thomas Dimiitroff
Big reason #2: Julio Jones Trade. Sell your guts for instant offense.

CMIZ5290 10-26-2014 05:10 PM

How about that classic choke today? Unbelievable....

Runscott 10-27-2014 11:30 AM

It's not that big of a deal - they are just one of the bad teams in the NFL this year. Every year there have to be a few. I'm sure in a few years they will be quality again.

I thought this team would rebound.

nolemmings 10-27-2014 06:11 PM

They're still only a game and a half out of first in that lousy division and are 2-0 in divisional play if tiebreakers ever become a factor.

So are the Falcons....Arthur Blank would be crazy not to try and hire Harbaugh....Mike Smith is a great guy, but he is best suited as a Defensive Coordinator for a solid organization. Big time overachieving for 5 years....

CMIZ5290 12-08-2014 07:54 PM

Go get em Blank! Stay with your boy Smith...

The entire NFC South should be relegated to the Arena, or Canadian Football Leagues. The Falcons are done according to AneurysmInducingNumbers.COM the Carolina Panthers have a 110% chance to win the division at 6-9-1! :D

How can the Panthers have a 110% chance to win the division?? 100% means it's a done deal, kind of confused on your math, and secondly, they are behind the Saints and Falcons according to most experts...

Are you serious? Though surprisingly "AnEurysm Inducing Numbers. dotcom" came up as a site, I was not expecting that. It was a joke, as is the NFC South, my only point.

You had better believe if Jerry Jones' Cowboys miss the playoffs because of any 6-9-1, or 7-9 team, there will be a billion dollar hissy fit in the NFL.

Good...I'll sleep better tonight. As far as the Cowboys, give them time, they will do their annual choke....

Also, your Seawrens better be worried big time with the Packers...

pariah1107 12-09-2014 06:44 PM

I am very worried about the Hee-Hawks.

While their last three weeks of defensive prowess have been exemplary, they have all sorts of issues on the offensive side of the ball. Wilson scrambling around and "making plays" will last as an offensive strategy as much as it did for Tarkenton or Zorn. Without legitimate threats on the perimeter they are going to have a hard time running within the tackles come the playoffs. There is only so much "Beast Mode" motivation can do for a team.

A stout defense up the middle, like the Packers have with Matthews moved to middle linebacker will cause all sorts of problems. In my opinion if the Cardinals had even a second string offense they'd run away with the NFC West. But, the Hawks will beat another mediocre quarterback like Stanton, just like Sanchez, and hopefully have a home playoff game.
