FS: Katherin Hepburn Vintage signed Playbill Price Drop
 

This is a Playbill from the Davidson Theatre in Milwaukee signed by Katherine Hepburn.

Hepburn was appearing in Shakespeare's "As You Like It," duing the road tour of the play between February 19th and 24th, 1951. She has signed the playbill just below her name on the front cover, utilizing a fountain pen with dark blue ink. Most of the other cast members of the play have signed as well. The program is a bi-fold and has been creased horizontally. There is some staining to the cover, but it doesn 't affect Hepburn's signature.

This play marked Hepburn's return to the Broadway stage (where the performance of the play originated before it toured the country). The performance took place during the same year that "African Queen" was released and prior to the appearance of "Pat and Mike." Hepburn spoke publicly about acting in the play and considered it a challenge after having concentrated on film work.

This is a beautiful, mid-life signature of this legendary actress. It would look great matted next to a period photograph of Ms. Hepburn.
