1/1 Old Mill Cicotte
 

So, I notice a T206, newly discovered, Old Mill, PSA 4 Cicotte on the Goodwin auction earlier in the week and think to myself its only $426, lets watch this thing and see where it goes. I'm thinking if it stays under $800 I'll put a bid in, how cool would it be to own something so unique! My one piece of the T206 pie that no one else has, or at least has at the moment. But then I do a little digging and find an Old Mill Cicotte that sold for $57 raw back in '09 on CardTarget.

So I'm a little confused by the first ever thing now. The card on Cardarget looks correct, front and back match up with the flaws. But I chalk it up to the fact that there may be only two(but not likey) and only one graded. SO , I watch this card get bumped up to $800 and I'm still thinkning under $1000 and its mine, a one of a kind or not. Hours later and all my money still in my wallet this thing flies off the shelf at $6235.60 (after buyers premium).

I do not know if I am missing something and this is the correct value as I am new to this but, Wow! Guess I'll stick to the PSA 3 commons and PSA 1.5 HOFers with Piedmont 350 backs.

There is a whale or two that have stacks of money to buy T206s......and if they need a card they don't mind paying exponentially more than they will ever be able to sell it for (imo), nor do they care (I am sure).

:D I was shocked to say the least. Guess I will be content over in the minnows pond. I'm sure the seller is ecstatic this morning.

It went for 1,025.78. Without the miscut back that card is only a $20-$40 card (depending on the day). I like miscuts and buy them with a premium but that was more than I would have thought for a miscut back that doesn't even have a miscut front.

Not many cards out there have pieces of 4 backs!!

That is true, but that is still a very strong price for a simple miscut (with no overprint or any other flaws).

So I thought this was a good question: how can Goodwin indicate that this was a previously unknown combination, when apparently one sold in 2009 ? Also why is the combination still listed as not confirmed on t206 resource?

I only looked quickly so maybe I'm missing something obvious or missing some fine print somewhere.

Dumb question, but is Cicotte a 150 subject? Is that why it's tough?

Auction House descriptions are filled with puffery which isn't always accurate. Whether they are notified of these infractions and whether they choose to modify them is up to them.

I thought it was a fair price and I thought about putting in the next bid. To tie the four back in with the Cicotte 1 of 1, bet no one else has this Cicotte combo :)

The scan of the backs isn't upside down, the actual backs are(or the fronts are?) and I'm not sure which one is Cicotte, except the stained one is Davis
