Due to upcoming surgery (I have explained my situation in the "Introductions" section). Thus I am in need of selling a lot of things. I am keeping just a few favorite cards and selling the rest to pay for expenses. I also have a previous item I have been saving for and committed to buying from a fellow net54er, prior to my accident, that I intend to follow through on.

Thanks for helping me out. Please feel free to make a reasonable offer. My email is francisfamilyfive@gmail.com I very much prefer email to pm. So please use email if you can. Thanks. Brad

19. An original Ford Frick ball signed by 10 stars of the 1946 World Series champs St. Louis Cardinals including Stan Musial. The signatures are faded but still legible, with Musial as the strongest. The interesting story behind this ball is that all of the signatures were obtained at the time of the winning series by Gabby Street. The ball was purchased from his granddaughter Jennifer along with other items listed above from his estate. This is great by itself, but with the Gabby Street association is pretty cool. Price very reasonably at $200
A brief bio of street:
"Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Street had a seven year playing career in 502 games with the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Beaneaters, Washington Senators, and New York Highlanders. On August 21, 1908, Street achieved a measure of immortality by catching a baseball dropped from the top of the Washington Monument—a distance of 555 feet (169 m). Journalist Preston Gibson pitched the ball to him from the top of the monument and Gabby made a clean reception. Street is also known for his friendship as a catcher and mentor of famed right-handed pitcher, Walter Johnson."

Here are some scans of the actual inscriptions on the books. Not the usual inscription, as the authors clearly have had a relationship with Gabby.
