2 Gehrigs
I have re-written this post a couple of times. Here are the two original images I posted, that Jim is responding to. My thinking was that 'Gehrig' was kind of huge for a baseball - more dominating than his humble nature usually permitted:

Looks like what you got there is umpire John A. Quinn, followed by Gehrig, Gehringer and if I am not mistaken based on the first two letters on the right hand portion sweet spot looks like Connie Mack & Earl Whitehill
In the 2nd image , after Gehrig & Averill is Rabbit Warstler & Clint Brown....Cheers ! _______________________ jim@stinsonsports.com Vintage autographs for Sale on my web site stinsonsports.com |
Are you comfortable with the Gehrigs? If it they had not been twice the size of a normal Gehrig, I would have been bidding.
I ultimately took the text of my post down, thinking maybe some weird situation arose in Japan where he was asked to sign with a very large signature. |
Not Johnny's style at all--and by now, I should know.
Those Gehrigs are good. (His mid 1930s style--which these are--tended to be larger.) |

I'm still keeping my eyes open for a 'Ruth/Gehrig' signed ball, but it will probably take even longer than it did for me to purchase my first Ruth flat. Still haven't been brave enough to win a Gehrig, although I've put in fair bids on a few. |
