UPDATED: Complete 1970s Hostess boxes, Schmidt, Garvey, McCovey, Reggie, Ryan
Complete boxes from which the panels never were cut. These were purchased at the time of issue, broken down and tucked away in a bedroom closet until about two weeks ago. Listed below are the year, the three players on each panel, the players who are featured on the front and sides of the box as a promo and the brand of snack cake. An * indicates that the front of the box has a magic-marker swipe on it, indicating it was sold at a Hostess outlet store.
Scans of the bottom panels are below. If you'd like additional ones, please email me. All are in very nice condition. Because these are large and awkward to ship, I'd like to sell them as a group. Price for all six boxes is $ PayPal is fine. No need to "gift" your payment. A commitment to buy takes precedence over an ongoing negotiation. Feel free to email any questions. Thanks, Rob wolfie51sb at aol.com 1976: Willie McCovey, Greg Luzinski, Larry Parrish; (Steve Garvey, Joe Morgan), Cup Cakes* 1976: Mike Cuellar, Gene Tenace, Bobby Murcer; (Steve Garvey, Joe Morgan), Cup Cakes* 1977: Don Sutton, Mark Belanger, Dennis Leonard; (Reggie Jackson, Jim Palmer), Cup Cakes* 1978: Butch Hobson, George Foster, Bob Forsch; (Rod Carew, Nolan Ryan), Twinkies 1979: Roger Erickson, Larry Hisle, Jason Thompson; (Ron Guidry, Jim Rice), Cup Cakes 1979: Lee Mazzilli, Steve Garvey, Mike Schmidt; (Ron Guidry, Jim Rice), Twinkies http://photos.imageevent.com/ineedan...tos/host-1.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/ineedan...tos/host-2.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/ineedan...tos/host-3.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/ineedan...tos/host-4.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/ineedan...tos/host-5.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/ineedan...tos/host-6.jpg |
Are there any creases or scuffing in these panels? They look great in the scans.

Thanks for asking this question, because it prompted me to look closer at the boxes.
Though not a crease per se, on the Mazzilli/Garvey/Schmidt box, there's a production indentation that starts outside the cards, to the right of Schmidt, and extends about 3/8 on an inch inside the border, just above Schmidt's left shoulder. That's the only such flaw I see on any of the boxes. Because I missed this when I posted originally, and because it's on probably the most desirable box, I will knock off $7 for the price of the lot, to $35 delivered. Thanks. |
I thought I priced this group to sell, but I was wrong. If you're interested, please make a fair offer, and they'll most likely be yours.
Thanks, Rob |
