Buzz Arlett Game Used Bat
5 Attachment(s)
This is a 1930s game used Buzz Arlett bat. Arlett is/was long-considered the Minor League Baseball home run king with 367 round trippers. He was so popular in the Pacific Coast League, he preferred to spend his career out there and only played one season of Major League ball in 1931 with the Philadelphia Phillies. The majority of his career was spent with the Oakland Oaks, Minneapolis Millers, and Baltimore Orioles.
This is a professional model M. R. Campbell bat that was specifically made for Arlett. The bat is 35 inches in length and weighs an astounding 46 ounces!!! MEARS sold an M.R. Campbell pro model bat like this of Lyn Lary in 2012 and they confirmed that it was a professional game used bat made for Lary (Lary's bat was also 35 inches, but only 32 ounces). I located an article from 1931 mentioning that he swung a particularly heavy bat. It said he was using 44 ounce bat during the 1931 season. This one is slightly heavier at 46 ounces. This bat was definitely custom-made for Arlett. The bat shows heavy use. Arlett was a switch hitter and this bat has grain separation and deep ball/lace impressions on both sides of the barrel. The handle is cracked and has been repaired with tape. There does not appear to be any wood missing. I am looking for $750 shipped. Lyn Lary M.R.
