Does this card exist? Anyone have a scan?
The first edition of the Standard Catalog listed this card at $400 when other similar Hofer's were valued at $65.

Lets show some love for this set!

I have talked to several collectors of the set Craig, and no one has seen or heard of anyone with a Stengel. I have never seen a Crawford or Bancroft either, although I have heard that there is at least one each.

Here is one of my favorites - I have 29 different now - always buying if anyone has any :-)

great cards everyone. Ordinarily I don't go for oversized "cards"...but in this case exceptions were made. My one and only.

scooter729 08-11-2014 09:50 AM

That's a winner, Pete! Anyone who wouldn't make an exception for that needs to re-think their rules!

Here is Zach Wheat.

nice wheat! in stark contrast to his usual full swing pose!

kdixon 08-11-2014 11:29 AM

Thanks. I like his glove in his back pocket.

Don't know anything about the Stengel, but I can confirm that Crawford exists. Kevin Savage auctioned one off a few years ago.

That is what I heard as well Paul. I have been trying to track down the owner for a while, even if it is just to see a scan of the card.

Craig is that Crawford yours? What a beautiful card!

Following Crawford in the twilight of his career, here is Hornsby, just getting started...

Crawford

That could be just the way the Mendelsohn pose turned out. Crawford died at 88 years of age in 1968.
