Handley, PCL, Phillies, Pirates, Reds, etc...
Hello all,
Its been a while since I was on the site, but I am looking to pick up some more items. My grandfather was Lee Handley and my great-uncle was Gene Handley. They both played in the majors and in the PCL for a number of years, and several other lower leagues. Below is the years and teams they played for. If you or anyone you now has any items from these teams and years please contact me at michael.jl.handley@gmail.com. I am looking for anything from these teams and years. Thank you very much. Lee
Mike,
I may have something of interest to you--believe we may have even spoken before via this site. My uncle Emmett Nelson was Lee's teammate in Cincinnati and Toronto in 1936. I have a spring training photograph of Emmett, with Lee and I believe Billy Myers. I may have sent that to you earlier (or promised to, then didn't). I also have a spring training roster of the Reds for 1936 that should have Lee included. Lastly, the story of how I identified Lee is a fun one in itself--another old player Lee Stine, who was also on that team did it for me when I was researching Emmett's career for a family baseball history I wrote. Anyhow, you are welcome to electronic images of these things. Glad to send them. Best way to reach me is my work email of eric.nelson@bankofthewest.com. That's the one I'll read. Not on this site very often. |
