Mickey Mantle Auto 8x10 Photos & Bobby Brown Balls: Real or Junk? Opinions Please
 

See pics below. I know, they are not of the highest quality, but it is all I have to work with at the moment. All of these items claim to have scoreboard COAs, but the COAs appear to be photo copies, so I am concerned this all might be 100% junk. I am not familiar with the classic "fake" Mantle auto items, like a specific fake auto photo backgrounds or litho themes. Hard to tell by me what is good and what is junk these days, so thought I would ask for some helo here and may be learn something as well.

Bottom Line: Just curious on board members opinions of likely authenticity of each of these items. I have numbered them 1-6. If able, please provide general comments and a standardized tally, like...

1: good
2: fake
3: IDK
4: fake
5: good

or all of them are good

or all of them are bad.

All of the Mantles are bad. Unsure about the last photo but I don't like it.

Considering you ask people for thoughts on mantle autos, etc from proxibid and other online sites all the time, wouldn't it be better just to learn how to tell whether they're real or not?

Top 2 appear to be banana Mantles. If I'm not mistaken, I think the second two Mantle's look like Marino's work. I don't like the Joe D in the last. No opinion on Williams.

Just my opinion but the only one that might have a remote shot at being legit is the Williams but given the rest of the lot I would take the chance. Williams aren't that high especially with a fade Joe ad. I'd pass on all.

I used to say, "Don't be sad, cause 2 out of 3 ain't bad". In this case, meat, 5 outta 5 is BAD.

and stop with the buying and looking at sites like E-bay and especially Proxibid. Everything is fake on those sites. Ok 95% of everything. STOP IT for CRYIN OUT LOUD

If this isn't the most redundant and re-hashed theme on net54, I don't know what is.

Anyone still unsure about Mantle can just search the archives, and will get literally hundreds of hours of free education and reading material.

+1 - feel free to use the search function for Mantle, Williams, etc. Almost all details are covered at length here.

Forged items are cheap on those sites. So post them here, get opinions from 9 out of 10 responders, and if you get lucky and no one notices where you found them, and a few people think they are good, you buy them, get them certified and sell them...back to 'us'.

As long as we keep playing the game, questions about such items will keep coming.

It's probably a close second to PSA vs. SGC or bitching about auction house shipping charges. :)
