T206 Wagner mention on Pawn Stars

I was just watching Pawn Stars and and woman came on with a Honus Wagner cut sig......they are about to appraise it.......

Corey just was explaining about the T206 Wagner being the Holy Grail of baseball cards.....stating 56 exist......

I thought it was about 75.....now with the new find.....

does anyone know a true count???

Leon....please move to main page sorry

Not sure anyone knows an exact count. From what I have seen and read I would put the number between 65-90. Others might have more accurate guesses.

I'm not an expert on how many exist, but I have a buddy that is. If you can come back later we'll let him chime in and then we can settle on a number. Sound good?

I wouldn't put much stock in what reality pawn 'stars' say.

Most of what I've heard them say about Baseball is either common knowledge or long-ago rebuffed legends.

They've said the sport card market is dead on more than one occasion.

I don't watch the show, but I'm curious: do they say this to someone right before they make someone an offer on their cards?

Couple of things:

1. I watch Pawn Stars regularly and did watch the episode with the Wagner sig, it was a shame the sig was phony.

2. I read somewhere and seen various clips on YouTube that there roughly 60-100 Wagner cards in existence, again I am no pro.

What kills me about the show is many times the staff do recite "obvious" info on items and also tell customers some outlandish stuff. I think that they go off of hearsay around their respective area and those that are from out of town that pass by. This is just my opinion.

RE: Pawn Stars

I recently turned on the TV for the first time in a long time. When I finally found the History Channel (where the past comes alive) I was appalled by crap like Pawn Stars. Idiotic programming like this on a channel I used to respect and admire quickly reminded me why I gave up television 13 years ago.

To use a modern phrase, Pawn Stars is an, "epic fail."

And I doubt whether the people on the show would be able to authenticate a T206 Wagner...Honus or Heinie...or any other card from that set, for that matter.

Best regards,

Eric

Suffice to say that the T206 is not even Wagner's toughest tobacco card.

The T206 Wagner is not rare. There are thousands, or maybe even millions, of 'em out there.

Of course, that does include the reprints.

:D

I thought I remembered seeing something or reading something about several of the known authentic copies of the Wagner T206 card being brought together for a photo op. Somebody please tell me that I didn't dream this up.

If it has happened before, would it be possible to get them together again? It would make for a great story, an incredible picture, and it would go a long way towards narrowing down a number of how many examples actually exist.

Can you imagine the level of security that would be needed for this?
