Gold Medal Foods Envelope Addressees

I picked up a Gold Medal Foods envelope in a lot of R cards I won last week. I did a quick search for the addressee and discovered a recent obituary for the man.

I discovered that he was a New Years Day baby and would have been 12 years old for the 1934 World Series (about the age of my son). Though a Massachusetts kid (all but the R313As in the lot I won are Boston players), he nevertheless went to college at Simpson College in Iowa (15 minutes from my house). He was a veteran of WWII and Korea. He was married to his wife till death did them part after 61 years.

I have seen several other Gold Medal envelopes on here over the years, has anyone else been able to track down their original owner's story?

Stories of original owners from other mail delivered premiums are also welcome here.

Neat story of the Gold Medal Foods Envelope.

Shown before (they all have :o) but I like where this person says they saw Ty Cobb at the seasons first game in 1912, the day before they mailed this, at the "new ball ground" and opening day of Navin Field. I believe that is where this postcard was given out as a promotional item.

Cool. That reminds me of the train wreck RPPC postcard (I think the Oregon postcard guy had it) when the Cardinals team would have died if their manager hadn't moved their car to the back before the trip. The team helped with the injured on the accident scene. A woman sent a postcard of the wreckage and circled the part where she was trapped under the rubble. Postcards were kinda like Facebook or Instagram back in the day. EDITED: Here they are. http://www.sportingoregon.com/p479278548

Your son was 12 years in 1934?

How old does that make you?
