Saco River Auctions Follow up

1 Attachment(s)
As a follow up to the previous threads I want to give a quick update on the Saco Auctions situation. I spoke with Troy this morning and we got every thing worked out. I should have handled the situation differently and my utmost apologies to Troy and Saco River Auctions for that. Everything I have seen and heard tells me they are an outstanding company. They will be continuing on as a valued banner advertiser on our board. Thanks again for Troy's understanding in the matter. Happy collecting everyone.. Even Max looks a bit puzzled on this one!!

alls well that ends well...to err is human...to admit it and move on is divine!

Leon and I have worked things out...all is well. This incident has caused me to look at a few failures with my own staff and I recognize that new systems regarding message delivery and communication need to be enacted. I appreciate Leon owning his mistakes and I also own the ones which were made by the SRA staff. We will continue to advertise and post to the site.

Did we ever figure out if this guy is an alt? Oh wait, that may be another thread. :D

On a serious note, it's good to hear that this all worked out.

Leon thanks for admitting you could have handled this differently.

From a long time members perspective I will say I was a little shocked by the whole thing just didn’t seem like you. Look I get it you jumped the gun got heated etc. it happens. However you have stood by this rule of everyone needs to stand behind what they say names in post no hiding etc. You have said many times “you got something nasty to say better back it up don’t hide not going to happen here”.

In my eyes those rules didn’t seem to apply to you this go around. :o

You came out of nowhere slammed Troy in one thread, then started another dedicated thread calling him “deadbeat” in the title along with “pathetic” etc. over a few hundred dollars at best, or what is now most likely a misunderstanding. All I'm assuming to fire up a rally to your cause at the time…and boy did some folks show up. :)

Then when you realized ughh may have been wrong on this one. You proceeded to deleted your comments and the entire thread. I’ve seen you over the years lock up threads on folks not in their finest moments and let those comments stand forever in the search feature.

I get it your place your rules, but in my humble opinion this was handled badly on many levels not just between you and Troy. Since we are clearing the air and I was vocal in that "deleted" thread I wanted to respond to you.

Cheers,

John

My opinion

John - I tend to agree, but in this case, I think removing the post is the right thing. If Saco is a paid advertiser, my guess is that they'd prefer to have the negative posts deleted as well.

But, as I say this, I'm reminded of the bad-mouthing of some AHs and TPGs that aren't removed from threads even if those said AHs and TPGs are paid advertisers.

This just goes to show why stuff like this should be resolved behind closed doors and not be aired on an open forum.

Couldn't agree more with the guy John above. If an advertiser didnt pay their bill, it's kind of irrelevant to the people who follow this site. It's between you and the advertiser. It made me a little uneasy reading about it. Just my two cents...

Agree with John.

I have spoken to some folks in this hobby who believe there is a clique on this site, and the clique members group attack other members and defend each other blindly. They should read post #5.

jefferyepayne 07-28-2014 03:11 PM

I would agree with John. I personally don't like deleted messages or deleted threads in a forum that claims to be "open and honest" and holds everyone accountable for their posts. Are we ALL accountable or not?

Yes, we are accountable. The only thing I did wrong was made this public, I apologized. The company involved and I resolved our issues. It's over.

Leon--Adding the last sentence adds nothing other than being heavy handed again. Anyone has the option of leaving the board, including you. This could have been left unsaid.

Thanks Jay, you are right...I went to edit my post, which any member can do to their own posts, and accidentally changed yours instead (I clicked the wrong button_....don't ask, I am sorry. Nothing in your message is changed)...*unless you go change it.

No worry. Let's get back to what we all love, the cards.
