SOLD: Eddie Murray game-used bat, Sept. 27, 1980
Game-used bat of Hall of Famer Eddie Murray when he was with the Orioles, used in a game at Cleveland on Sept. 27, 1980.
This bat is part of a large collection I've been selling for the past 18 months for a friend who was active in the hobby for more than four decades starting in the 1970s, primarily collecting Cleveland memorabilia and cards. I have known him for nearly 30 years. During the late 1970s and early '80s he worked in downtown Cleveland and attended 40-50 home games a season. This bat was obtained by him in person at the game. Pictures of the bat are below. If you'd like more or larger ones, please let me know. On the reverse of the bat (the opposite of the label side), a piece is missing (splintered during the game). In that area the previous owner wrote in ink "9-27-80" in ink after he returned home with the bat. The area of the bat with the missing piece isn't present when the bat is displayed. Price is $xxx delivered within the United States. If you'd like me to deliver it in person at the National, I will knock off $50. Note: I am not a bat guy. After researching previous bats from early in Murray's career that have sold, I think I've taken into account the condition of the bat and priced it fairly, especially considering its provenance and the fact this bat is new to the hobby. PayPal is fine. No need to "gift" your payment. A commitment to buy takes precedence over an ongoing negotiation. Feel free to email any questions.
