Starliner stickers

Recently picked up an Al Kaline Starliner sticker and was wondering if anyone knew anything about these stickers ? What year they were produced ? Company ? How many in the set? Did they come in packs ? Away from home and don't have access to my Standard Catalog . I'm thinking maybe late 60's or early 70's? If anyone has info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks , Brett

These were a fabricated "issue" in the 80's, printed on blank (MACtac)Starliner sticker stock. Anybody can buy this stock and print their own stickers. The sticker liner usually looks pretty crisp and white.

May have even come out of Detroit as it seems a few homemade unlicensed issues did (such as KG sets).

I happened upon a dozen or so sets of the Starliner Stickers back in the late 1990's/2000ish for like $4.00 a set. I had them with me at the National and Kit Young had sets up for sale for something like $200 a set. I offered them to him at $75-$100 or something and he bought them--all 12 or so just south of that. That was my fun Starliner story.......

They look like stolen Dexter Press images from the mid-to-late 1960's just printed on the sticker backs. If I remember correctly, there are a couple versions of them out there--one with white backs and blue printing and one with kind of a brownish back and either blue/black printing. I would agree completely with the 1980's because that's when I was doing shows and they were all over the place back then. Need to see if I have any singles left laying around anywhere......

Thanks very much for the info guys. Thought the photo looked familiar and might have been 1960's (Dexter Press) . Something a little different and if it's from the early 1980's it's over 25 years old and is now vintage:rolleyes:Brett

Starliner Stickers

John Stirling of Indianapolis issued these back in the late 1970's or early 1980's....later people issued them with different backings
